For years, the St. John boys’ basketball team has been slowly gaining recognition across North Dakota.
The Woodchucks have spent several weeks over the last few seasons ranked in the state’s top ten media poll, but had never reached the very top.
That finally changed last week when it was announced the Woodchucks were the number one ranked team in North Dakota.
St. John was rated second much of the year but eclipsed Stanley by a few votes. They took the floor twice last week and played like they want to stay atop the rankings the rest of the season.
St. John opened the week by crushing North Star, another program all-too familiar with state polls, and then downed a fired up Langdon-Edmore-Munich team on Thursday.
